Snow Globe 02:51
You did something wrong in 1992, you apologized ‘til your face turned blue. Forgiveness was given and your restrictions were lifted, You thought that that would be the end of that. But in ’93, ’94, and ‘5... the same old story, the same old line: “Do you remember the time?” “You nearly made me cry!” Your gonna hear about it until the day you die! I was raised in a snow globe, shake it up and everything’s serene. An Etch-A-Sketch, well it was your home, Shake it up and your whole world is wiped clean Foundation built on the sand, not stone, Keeping one eye focused on the sea and the foam. Water rushes and gushes and now your trusses are busted, And you find yourself adrift at sea. Never again will you be caught unaware. Your only course now is to over-prepare. The thing you were missin’ was a consistent position And now that it’s your decision, you’re gonna make it your mission. But not as in a clean break, or a clean slate, Just a clean bill of health from a cell mate. The problem this instance is when you’re livin’ in prison The other prisoners cannot make you free.
2.
Daydream 03:01
I like to daydream about things I should’ve done, and things I wish I said. And in my memory, I have stood up for the little guy, in every instance at least tried to do the right thing. But in reality... I’m not the one for droppin’ eaves, try to keep my nose clean. I’m not the type to pick up the pieces swept under my rug. Everybody wants to be a hero, and they think that they would be. But if you’ve ever tried to do what was right, did you take a side or stay out of the light? I saw these kids yelling at their mom, she locked her keys in the car. She looked so sad and helpless, but it was none of my business. I saw this thing on the news where they staged a kidnapping. And everyone walked by, and almost no one tried to save the girl’s life, Or be the good guy.
3.
Better Thans 03:08
I’ve got a bad case of the better-thans... Are you better than me, am I better than you? But we’re playing this game with separate pieces, You say “check mate,” I say “king me” But in One Hundred years, who’s going to know we were here? You’ve got the whole world to compare to, why even try? In a smaller civilization, before mass communication, you could’ve been someone ...to someone. I used to want to be 5’11” or 6’3” I can’t change what I’ve been given, but maybe I can change where I’m living
4.
Boomerang 04:47
I heard you’re moving in with that guy you said you couldn’t stand Well baby, good luck with that. You say that he’s changed, well I hope for your sake that it’s true. Nobody forgets what he did to you Picture perfect life would be, if everything was like your dreams (but they’re not) Tell yourself that it’s for real. Just ignore the things you feel (they’re wrong!) Boomerangs always return. A moth in a flame always gets burned You try to throw it away... something makes it stay Flies attracted to the pile, fit folks running a circular mile Should’ve left it alone, no closer to home You came back to town. You said you never would, after you left. But this way has a way of doing that. Making your new plans to get out of here again, this time for good. Feels like I’ve heard that line before. Circle the drain, if you’ve got to. Don’t get to close, you’ll fall in.
5.
Shame On 02:56
That was a good trick, you played on your friends How many times did we fall again? You pulled the wool down, and held it in place How did you keep your story straight? You fooled me once, now take the blame. I played your game, you can keep that shame. The other times I heard the lines, I trusted lies, that shame is mine. I may forgive you, in time. But don’t hold your breath, I’m not holding mine. No one can say that I didn’t try Things look so bright, since I’ve opened my eyes
6.
Hermitage 03:18
Don’t go outside to the jungle. Butterfly wings turn your good deeds bad. Build a nice fence, let your garden grow. Keep the gate locked, nothing gets in or out. The ivy creeps, blocks the sunlight. I never much liked the glare. The air is stale but familiar. Sanctuary or Mausoleum?
7.
Smiling Mask 03:07
They say that everything you experience becomes a part of you... I hope that’s not true. These walls you’re building on have got some cracks I’m sure; near the basement floor. The structure is sound. How do you fly with that weight on your shoulders? I’d like to try one day in your sky, but my weight has buried me. All these things hurting you, if they do not kill, they’ll make you stronger still. A comforting thought... I’ve heard that a hotter fire makes a stronger bond, and a brighter flame. Shine on, you won’t break Tugboat pulling a cargo barge, man that’s large. Set aside your past, put on a smiling mask for the whole world to see.
8.
Medicine 02:37
So many thoughts, relentless, never ceasing That bottle is the only thing that slows them down In moderation, momentary sedation Temporarily calm, quiet is your favorite sound Don’t think less because you take that medicine Noone looks down because you needed help Noone looks up at your no-gain sacrifice, so Don’t think less because you take that medicine Minor distractions might be comfort for a second Substitution scratches, itches never go away Replacements try but never quite fit right You’ll be living with that irritation on your dying day When things are so bad, that it hurts too touch Walking with a limp… ever thought about a crutch? Squinting your eyes because your glasses are lame Maybe there’s a way to alleviate the pain The helping-hand objective is not one of destruction They don’t pick you up just to watch you fall. x2 Don’t think less because you, don’t think less because you, don’t think less because you…

I was looking through a rose-tinted window, please don’t shatter please don’t shatter People telling me I’d lost my mind but opinions don’t matter, they just don’t matter Ignoring forests and trees when every tree is diseased all I see is if-only’s and could-be’s Ignoring forests and trees when every tree is diseased I didn’t want to believe The timbre of your voice, it shocked my system and I Feel I’ve got no choice in any situation Duties will be done ‘cuz that’s my occupation “out for number one” is back in hibernation Claim I have a say, just one of many lies Decision already made, a guilt trip in disguise Hard work goes to waste, if I do not comply. Find a better way without the time to try
10.
Anchor 04:24
Alone at sea, you’re there with me. I jump overboard and you pursue, but not to rescue I get back to the boat, pull the anchor in and sail away. During my retreat, I fall asleep. I wake up from a dream. Anger and fear, are you here? Turns out you were my anchor all along; I can’t get away. Let your anchor go and cut the rope. Don’t let it choke, allow yourself to float. Steer your own boat. I reach the shore, alone once more. Find a cave and crawl inside, a good place to hide… Light a match, sparks to a flame to start my fire. As the fuel burns, somehow you return. Just like a bug taking flight toward the light. Cover it up ‘til every last ember dies and the fire’s gone. If you play with heat and beggars come to your feet. They’re incomplete, you don’t have to bleed. You’re in the driver’s seat.

The Working Week's second full-length album combines Piano driven Pop with catchy melodies, jazz chord progressions, and a horn section while tackling the subject of remaining too close to things in life that attempt to drown us with strong currents
